

SOUTHLAKE -- Roger Lee Lemieux was welcomed into the Lord's kingdom on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at the young age of 70. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at Cancer.org, or to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org. Roger, Hon, Dad, or Ampa began his life in Hibbing, Minn., and met the love of his life in Gardena, Calif. This is where his dedication to his family began with his beautiful high school sweetheart, Charlotte, and together they brought three children into this world, all of whom possess his abundant qualities of dedication, love and selflessness. Dad was a proud U.S. Marine who served in Vietnam where he earned three Purple Hearts, and continuously returned to never leave his platoon. Roger was a cognizant man who worked tirelessly to provide for his family and always gave to his church, the local community and the VFW in Gardena, Calif. He was an "Ampa" who found precious time to fish with each grandchild and then always ended their days with unlimited pizza. He was a son who was named after the Jolly Roger from World War II that his father was part of the flight crew in the Pacific campaign. He was a loving and compassionate man whose life was fulfilled spending time with family and friends, fishing, driving antique cars or relaxing around a pool. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Thelma Lemieux, and his step-mother, Gladys Lemieux. Survivors: Charlotte Lemieux, wife of 50 years; children, Tony and his wife, Rhonda, Elisa Marks, Stephanie Smith and her husband, Jay; grandchildren, Jamie Lemieux and his wife, Beth, Brennon Lemieux, Hayden Lemieux, Hunter Marks, Zachary Marks, Emma Smith and Baylor Smith; great-grandchildren, Rylie Lemieux and Aidan Lemieux; brother, Douglas Lemieux and wife, Hedy; sister, Sue Reitz and husband, Bill; godchildren, Julie Ann Rizzo and Douglas Lemieux Jr.; his aunt, Norma Henderson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
