

Hazel Ruth Lee of Euless, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Grapevine, Texas. Anyone who knew her also knew that she hated the name Hazel and would quickly correct you if you referred to her by that name. For all who knew and loved her, she was always Ruth. She was born the tenth of twelve children, June 20, 1927 in West Terre Haute, Indiana to Mallie Claude and Amy Baker Elkins.
She married Wayne Douglas Lee in May 1947 and moved to Texas in September 1957. She and Wayne moved to Euless, Texas in 1958 where she lived in the same home for 61 years.
She was a full-time wife and mother and began working for Texas Employment Commission until she retired in 1990 to again resume her occupation as wife and full-time grandmother to three grandchildren. She considered that to be her most important occupation.
She was a long-time member of the Meadow Creek Baptist Church in Bedford, Texas.
She loved the Lord, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her church family and Young At Heart Bible Class. She loved being outdoors, especially her backyard where she enjoyed planting her flowers and tending her roses. She had many pets over the years and loved them all and she considered them to be members of the family. She loved reading her Bible, coloring with pencils and listening to Alistair Begg on her computer. She enjoyed music, particularly the Gaither Vocal Band and David Phelps.
Ruth is survived by her son Mark of Euless, grand-daughter Christi Meyer of Whittier, CA, Alex Lee of Whittier, CA, and Ian Lee of Whittier, CA. Three great-grandchildren, Julianna Lee Meyer of Whittier, Isabella Meyer and Levi Meyer, all of Whittier, CA and one sister Lois Langford of Indianapolis, IN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Mallie and Amy Elkins and step-father Ben Vermillion, infant son David Wayne Lee, husband of 55 years, Wayne Douglass Lee, seven brothers, Paul, Ford, Woody, Owen, Floyd, Russel, and Raymond and three sisters Gussie, Ruby, and Betty.
The visitation will be held from 1-2pm at Meadow Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 2pm at the Meadow Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park at 3:30pm.
