Sandra Fay Totty, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 20, 2026, at the age of 81. She was known for her infectious smile, rambunctious laugh, and generous spirit. Not one to shy away from a joke or colorful comment, she could make friends, or at least an interesting conversation, wherever she went.
Sandra was born on November 6, 1944, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to Marie Catherine Fulk and Willie Wilson Wood. She spent her early childhood in the Shenandoah Valley among her mother’s Mennonite family before growing up in the South Oak Cliff section of Dallas. A cheerleader at Justin F. Kimball High School, she graduated in 1963.
During her senior year, Sandra met the love of her life, Curtis Totty, at Westmorland Heights Baptist Church Dallas, TX. They married there on October 12, 1963, and welcomed daughters Jerilyn (1964) and Jenifer (1967). Over the years she wore many hats: homemaker, Campfire Girl leader, PTA president, drill team and cheer mom, and substitute teacher. She later owned a T-shirt shop, Shirt Stop, in Keller, TX, and co-owned the Keller Kakery, a wedding cake bakery, also in Keller. Sandra and Curtis enjoyed traveling, taking spontaneous road trips, and sightseeing across the country. She loved playing cards, dominoes, and any board game anyone would suggest.
After losing Curtis on June 22, 2006, Sandra began a full new chapter: she became a certified Master Gardener, helped start a community garden in North Richland Hills, trained as a citizen patrol volunteer for the police department, and remained a devoted fan of baseball, basketball, tennis, and hockey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Willie Wood; her husband, Curtis; and her brother, Wayne Wood. She is survived by her daughters, Jerilyn Iliff Wilton (John) of San Marcos, TX, and Jenifer Gary (Glenn) of Southlake, TX; and five grandchildren: Warren Gary of San Antonio, TX, Duncan Gary of Dallas, TX, Colin Iliff of San Marcos, TX, Caitlin Iliff of San Marcos, TX, and Callie Iliff of Winston Salem, NC. Now rejoined with Curtis nearly 20 years to the day, she will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends more than she will ever know.
The public graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on July 2, 2026, at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
