Shirley Mae McLendon was preceded in death by her husband William McLendon II and her son William McLendon III and is survived by her four grandchildren: Michelle Sawyer, William McLendon IV, Patrick McLendon, and Christopher McLendon, her nine great-grandchildren: Jakob Myers, Cas Myers, Logan Myers, Lillian McLendon, William McLendon, Easton McLendon, Aiden McLendon, Winter McLendon, and Wise McLendon, and her two great-great-grandchildren: Aurelia Danderson-Myers and Kali Myers.
After losing her husband and son, Shirley spent almost 12 years living on her own, though her family tried to convince her to move to Oklahoma. We were finally successful, and Shirley moved in with her niece, Cherie Andersen, where she and her family helped care for her in her final two years on this earth.
Shirley was strong in her faith. She often shared the word of God and shared her love of Jesus Christ. She knew where her soul was going when she passed, so she did not fear death, but rather looked forward to going home to heaven and seeing her husband, son, parents, and to answer a question she has wondered her whole life…was she really a twin.
Services for Shirley will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034.
Visitation will take place May 22nd, 5-8 PM. Her funeral will be held on May 23rd, 10:30 AM and will be followed by the burial.
