Suzanne Oylear Stubbs

Suzanne “Sue” Stubbs was born on January 3, 1948, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Kenneth and Carolyn Oleta Oylear, and she passed away on September 11, 2026, in Southlake, Texas, at the age of 78 years old.

Sue grew up in Bakersfield, California, and attended the University of Southern California, graduating in 1969. She married Thomas "Tom" Ramsey Stubbs in 1970, and together they raised their children, Jeremy and Jessica in Plano, TX. Before having children, Sue worked as a nurse, including more than five years with the Red Cross, where her caring nature was well suited to a profession centered around helping others.

Sue enjoyed reading mystery novels and cheering on the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, although she especially loved her Rangers. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and children and treasured spending time with her family. Her grandchildren held an especially important place in her heart, and she was a strong advocate for both her children and grandchildren. She could always be counted on to have a big ol’ bag of candy for the grandkids.

In November 2020, Sue and Tom moved to a retirement community in Southlake, Texas, where Sue enjoyed organizing and attending game nights with her friends and neighbors at Watermere. She loved to sparkle, both literally and in personality, and was kind to everyone she met. Sue loved peaches and had a unique palate when it came to traditional American foods. She was kind, caring, and fun-loving, with a splash of mischief that those who knew her will fondly remember.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas “Tom” Ramsey Stubbs; by her daughter, Danielle; by her parents, Kenneth and Carolyn Oleta Oylear; and by her sister, Carolyn Peckham.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Jessica; by her son, Jeremy and wife, Kelley; and by her grandchildren, Lyndsey Hicks and husband, Cade, Marilyn Stubbs, Mark Stubbs, Natalie Stubbs, Olivia Stubbs, Paxton Stubbs, and Quincey Rose Stubbs. Sue is also survived by her sister, Cindy Phillips and husband, Duane, as well as other loving family members and friends.

Sue will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her caring heart, her kindness toward others, and the fun-loving sparkle she brought wherever she went. She will be greatly missed.
