He was born in Snyder, Oklahoma on April 23, 1937. He joined the Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Roanoke for 4 years as a Radarman Third Class. Shortly after being honorable discharged from the Navy, Tom began his 42-year career as Air Traffic Controller in the F.A.A.
He loved and cherished his Lord and Savior, and Tom loved his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling (road trips), fishing and sports (coaching on the side).
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joy: sons Jeffrey Hughes and wife Lisa, Jeremy Hughes: four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren and Two brothers: Don Hughes and Galen Hughes.
