Thomas Michael O'Brien III
November 18, 1952 – July 3, 2021
Thomas Michael O’Brien, III born November 18, 1952 passed away on July 3, 2021 after a brief illness in Plano, Texas.
Tom graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School (Metairie, LA) and then Texas Tech University with a bachelors degree in Journalism. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Tom chose a career in medical sales selling surgical devices for leading companies such as Davol, CR Bard and Sun Medical. In 1993, he founded Eclipse Medical in Dallas-Fort Worth, a manufacturer of medical devices serving the aesthetic dermatology and plastic surgery specialties. Eclipse was a pioneer in the aesthetic medical arena growing from a regional distributor to a national manufacturer.
Tom, the oldest of ten children, was preceded in death by siblings Elizabeth O’Brien, Angela Juengerman, Keenen O’Brien, Patricia Rogers. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, mother Linda Hensel, and siblings Ellen Tillman (Melissa, TX), Kevin O’Brien (Coppell, TX), Kathleen Nichols (Dallas, TX), Paul O’Brien (Lewisville, TX), Jennifer Halm (Great Falls, VA), Steve Hensel (Grapevine, TX), Karen Dennis (Flower Mound, TX).
Tom was the father of six children – Thomas Michael IV, Rachel Elizabeth Hewitt, Shane Alexander, Allison Elizabeth Phillips, Shannon Bridget, Brendan Thomas. He had 5 grandchildren – Hayes Hewitt, Hudson Hewitt, Eliza O’Brien, Thomas O’Brien V, Sloan Phillips.
Tom enjoyed the mountains, golf, bicycling and travel. Tom successfully completed two cross country bike rides after the age of 50 as a fund raiser to benefit Wounded Warrior Project – Dallas to Los Angeles, and Los Angeles to Savanna, Georgia.

Visitation will be July 11, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Memorial service will be Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034. Followed by a graveside at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
