Thomas Tegtmeier, age 70, of North Richland Hills, Texas, transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, October 5, 2026. He was born August 17, 1956, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, to the late Conrad and Eulalia Tegtmeier.
Tom shared 25 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Sarah (Ramsey) Tegtmeier of North Richland Hills. He was a deeply loved father to Matthew (Lana) Elfers, Catherine Elfers of North Richland Hills, Danica (Danny) Smith of Joshua, Texas, and Nikki (Brent) Cross of Keller, Texas.
He was also a beloved brother to Jerry (Shirley) Tegtmeier of Goshen, Indiana, David (Kristin) Tegtmeier of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, and Andrew (Susan) Tegtmeier of Lexington, Kentucky.
Affectionately known as “Papa,” Tom was dearly loved by his grandchildren, Angelina (Addie) Smith, Marisa (Katrina) Perez, Dylan Smith, Gabriel (Destiney) Perez, Jacob Smith, Emily Cross, and Ella Anderson; and his great-grandchildren, Evelyn Perez, Kimberlyn Perez, and Cornelius Smith. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members who will cherish his memory.
Tom was a man who genuinely loved what he did. Throughout his career, he continued working in his field because it was something he truly enjoyed. Tom continued working all the way until his passing. He served as a Senior Lead in Mainframe System Performance, working with BNSF, IBM, and Kyndryl over the course of his career. Along the way, he developed many special friendships with coworkers who became an important part of his life.
Outside of work, Tom had many interests that brought him joy. He was an avid Kentucky fan, enjoyed golfing, and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved with the Richland High School Band and Flag Fundraiser. Whether enjoying the activities he loved, supporting his community, or simply spending time with those closest to him, Tom found great joy in the people and experiences that filled his life.
Above all, Tom will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, relative, friend, and coworker. His life touched many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas 76034.
A Rosary will begin at 10:00 am with the Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2016 Willis Ln., Keller, Texas 76248.
Flowers may be delivered to either the funeral home or the church. For those wishing to honor Tom’s memory through a charitable contribution, memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association or the North Richland Hills Animal Shelter.
