William Tims Tarkington “Tim”

William Tims Tarkington, 56, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019, in Grapevine, after a lifelong battle with insomnia. Despite his challenge, he was an exceptional father, loving husband, talented IT sales executive, avid outdoorsman, and practical joker. Tim was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Bill and Dale Tarkington. He was an accomplished scholar and he earned his Eagle Scout badge, in Troop 140, under the leadership of Scoutmaster, Dr. Kenneth Stewart. He further was a graduate of Denton High School, University of North Texas, and held an MBA from Baylor University.

The joy of his life was his two sons, sharing with them his passion for hunting and love of classic movies and rock-n-roll. Tim was a widely read history buff and enjoyed exercising and playing tennis. Tim was generous, clever and funny. As a man of faith, he contributed to the growth of the youth ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Wilmer, Texas and was a member of First Baptist Colleyville. His final act of kindness was donating his kidneys and liver so that two individuals could live fuller, healthier lives.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 10:00 am at Richland Hills Baptist Church, 6852 Baker Blvd., Richland Hills, TX 76118, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Long time friend, Pastor Joel Engle from ChangePoint Church, Anchorage, Alaska will officiate.

Tim will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his colleagues from over the years. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill G. Tarkington and is survived by his wife of 26 years, Regena Tarkington; sons, Tyler and Cory Tarkington; mother, Helen Dale Tarkington and cousin, Delia Whitmore.

Tarkington Family:

You likely don't know me at all, but Tim and I were buds during high school. We hung out together a lot, and I considered him a dear friend. I cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear this news. Tim and I just lost touch with each other after high school, and I regret not somehow reconnecting with him. My prayers are with your for God's strength, comfort and peace.

It was an honor to know Tim Tarkington, a special friend of 34 years. He was best man at my wedding, a man of strong faith and character, and loved his family and friends above all.

We shared a mutual fondness for the outdoors, and I was fortunate enough to spend many memorable days in the field with him and later on, our young boys. Though only a few years my senior, I looked up to Tim and respected his wisdom and advice. He was a brilliant guy highly skilled in dry wit and humor, oftentimes cracking himself up causing infectious laughter to those around. I admired his "do it right" attitude and how he was particular about most things, whether it be a pristinely clean hunting truck or his "WTT" labeled gear, or just how to order a fast food soft drink; "Tarkington style", no lid.

When my time comes, I look forward to once again sharing a cold, wet duck blind with Tim and tail-wagging Pete, while listening (deservedly) to his snickering at my missed shots.

To Regena, Tyler, Cory, and all the family, please accept our deepest condolences and know that love and prayers abound at this moment and always.

I met Tim when he was working as a senior manager at Oracle. I liked him immediately, and found him to be an adept manager and leader.

My fondest memories of Tim come from our conversations about hunting, military matters, patriotism, and our shared experiences while training together.

I knew Tim as a devoted father and husband. He was so proud of his family, which came through in every conversation.

All of us will miss Tim Tarkington. May God grant Tim eternal peace and wrap His loving arms around his family.
