

He was born on March 3rd, 1944 in Grapevine, Texas to Tom Watson McPherson and Effie Fay Bogart McPherson.
He graduated from Northwest High School in 1962. He was a longtime employee at United Parcel Service as well as a dairy farmer and cattle rancher. He was a devoted member of the Roanoke Tabernacle Church. He will always be remembered for his jovial attitude, passion for life, and, above all, loving his family.
Walter is survived by his wife of 59 years, LaVonda Wilson McPherson of Rhome, Texas; brother Lewis McPherson of Saint Jo, sister Nancy and husband Jerrell Estill of Grapevine, and brother Paul and wife Nancy McPherson of Rhome; son Terry McPherson of Muenster; daughters Tracy and husband Michael Harvey of Fort Worth; and Tonya and husband Jeremy Tate of Arlington; and known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren, Lauren, Grant, Cayden, Spencer and Haley.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 25th at 10:00 am at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Walter McPherson to the GallantFew, Inc; a nonprofit service organization that provides veterans with mental health support and resources to aide integration into civilian life.
