Wanda Jo Simpson passed away peacefully Saturday, February 7,2026 in her home in Whitesboro, Texas surrounded by family. She was born May 19, 1932 in Honey Grove, TX to Douglas Ray & Ollie Mae Chaney. She married L R Simpson, Jr. December 27, 1947. Together they shared 58 years of marriage raising their four children in Roanoke, TX.
Wanda brought joy to everyone’s life. She was a woman of great faith, actively serving in the Sherwood Shores Baptist Church in Gordonville, TX. Wanda was known for delicious family meals, beautiful quilting, and a loving home where all were welcome.
She is survived by her four children Jimmy (Patti), Danny (Anne), Tricia (Carroll), and Jerry (Vickie); 12 grandchildren David, Jeff, Daniel, Kevin, Darren, Corinne, Katie, Kimberly, Trenton, Lauren, Chris, and Randi; 24 great grandchildren; one cousin Brenda Sanders, and one niece Debbie Chaney.
The family will celebrate her life in a graveside service at Bluebonnet Hill in Colleyville, TX. (date pending). Her grandson, Darren Simpson will Officiate.
