Wayne Dean Marrs Sr.

Wayne Dean Marrs passed away on August 5, 2026, at the age of 85. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and man of faith, Wayne lived his life with strength, determination, and an unwavering love for his family.

Wayne was the last surviving of eleven children, closing the chapter on a remarkable generation of the Marrs family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Suzzane Marrs, and his grandson, Joshua Palmer. Wayne loved Suzzane deeply, and those who knew them knew how much their life together meant to him.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Palmer and husband Jay; his son, Wayne Marrs, Jr.; and his son, Charles Marrs and wife Samantha. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom was a tremendous source of pride and joy in his life.

Wayne enjoyed a long career in banking and was incredibly proud of the work he accomplished before his retirement. When asked to name his proudest career achievement, his answer was simple: “Graduating from Banking School.” He took great pride in being a banker and in the career he built through years of hard work and dedication. But as proud as Wayne was of his career, there was never any question about what mattered most to him.

While planning for the future, Wayne completed a legacy folder in which he was asked to reflect on his life. When asked about his proudest moments, he wrote: “My marriage to Suzzane, birth of all my children, births of our grandchildren. Birth of our great grandchildren.”

When asked to list his hobbies, Wayne gave perhaps the most fitting answer of all: “Loving my family.”

That was Wayne.

His family wasn't simply part of his life—they were the center of it. He loved them fiercely, took tremendous pride in them, and wanted them to understand what he had learned over a lifetime.

In his own words, Wayne left this message for those he loved:

“Things may come and things may go. But the love you have for family is the most important. Life is what you make it! You make it good or bad. Look for the Lord for help! He is always there!”

Wayne lived those words. He lived every single day to the fullest. He was strong, resilient, hardworking, and incredibly tough. Life could knock him down, but Wayne had a way of getting right back up and continuing forward. His strength was part of who he was, but beneath that toughness was a man whose greatest joy was simply loving his family.

Wayne Dean Marrs leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by possessions or accomplishments alone. His legacy lives in his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and in the lessons he taught them about strength, faith, perseverance, and the importance of family.

And perhaps the best way to honor Wayne is to remember the lesson he chose to leave behind:

A Committal Service will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034, US, on August 11, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
