

North Richland Hills, Texas – William Escher “Bill” Stewart, Jr., age 92 passed away on June 11, 2023. He lived a long full life enjoying time with his family, friends and various hobbies. Bill was born November 1, 1930, in Texas City, Texas to parents: William E. Stewart, Sr. and Audrey Mae White Stewart.
Bill graduated from Corsicana High School, went on to major in Chemical Engineering at Rice University. Bill then decided he wanted to be a pilot. He joined the Air Force flying the C-119 and then became a Braniff Airlines pilot lasting 26 years, his first day at work was November 1, 1956 (his birthday). He had several hobbies he enjoyed: hunting, raising show pigeons and golfing. In retirement he and his wife LaVora lived at many different golf communities, spending many days on those courses.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Audrey, of Lake Cherokee, TX, his wife of 56 years LaVora Ann Pierce Stewart, his brother Donald Loy Stewart of El Paso, TX. and his daughter Debra Kay Stewart of Gatesville, TX. He is survived by his son William E. Stewart, III (Wes), wife Lucy; grandsons Jay Yellott, wife Sarah; Kevin Yellott, wife Amy; granddaughter Crystal, husband Matt Parker; great grandchildren, Sgt. Parker Harrison, Blaze Parker, Aleta Drew and Jude Yellott.
