Willis “Jean” Moore, 86, of Grapevine, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at James L. West Alzheimer Center in Fort Worth, Texas after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. Born in Opelika, Alabama on March 14, 1929 to J.T. and Glenice (Cash) Moore, he lived most of his life in Texas including Grapevine since 1978. Jean was a passionate man who enjoyed family, friends, music, traveling, playing games, old western movies and life. He worked as a truck driver for Merchants Fast Motor Lines for 33 years until he retired in 1991. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 through 1949 (WWII) then again from 1952 through 1955 (Korean War). There were many, many family vacations. He’d come home from driving a truck all week, hook up the travel trailer and take off down the road for a family excursion. Whether going to Alabama and Georgia to visit his family or going all across the U.S. to see the sights, he was always willing to “go the extra mile” to make his family happy and have a good time. His biggest passion was music – he loved to sing and play. If there was a crowd, he was entertaining. When traveling, he would only stay at campgrounds that had a clubhouse so he could draw in a crowd. He started in a band while he was in the Marines and had played off and on ever since. He was playing up until March of 2014 at different places in Roanoke. He played guitar, piano, steel guitar and any other instrument he could get his hands on and was self-taught on all. Jean was extremely loving and proud of his blended, extended family.
