Amye was born on October 27th, 1936 in Covington Tennessee. She was the daughter of Flora (Goode) and Louis Daniel and was a resident of Collierville. Amye passed away on January 9th at Jordan River Health Complex following a long battle with dementia.
Amye graduated from Byars Hall High School and became a registered nurse after graduating from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Memphis. She went on to attain her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the College of St. Francis in 1982. She worked at St. Joseph’s hospital in Memphis before moving to St. Francis hospital when it opened. She retired in 2002 after a 40+ year career.
Amye is survived by her children, David Anderson (Anne) of Piperton, TN, and Ann Michelle Anderson of Swea City, Iowa. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Brothers Rufus Daniel of Covington, TN, Richard Daniel (Jenny) of Slocomb, AL, and sister Etta Hallewell of Rossville, TN, along with many nieces and nephews. Amye was preceded in death by three brothers, Cham Daniel of Covington, TN, Peck Daniel of Memphis, TN, Morris Daniel of Decatur AL, and sister Dolly Lott of Memphis, TN.
Amye was a lifelong nurse and cared for many friends and family. She was also a member of the Catholic Church of the Incarnation and belonged to numerous groups including the Incarnation quilters, founding member of the quilting ministry, health ministry, over 55 group, and eucharistic ministry. She also belonged to several local quilting guilds and made quilts for countless numbers of people.
Visitation will be at 12:00 and Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 at the Catholic Church of the Incarnation, 360 Bray Station Rd, Collierville, TN 38017. There will not be a reception, inurnment will follow the funeral mass at Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville.
