Betty was born on November 27, 1935 to Dewey Everett Collins and Ora Mae Free Collins. She was the oldest of seven children.
Betty and husband Jim, celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2007. Betty and Jim enjoyed three loving daughters, Sheryl Shaw (Gary), Valerie Lindsey (John), and Sandy Tate (Carter). She was known as Mimi to her 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Jim and Betty enjoyed square dancing, bowling, traveling and spending time with their children, grandchildren and friends.
Betty was a long time member of Collierville Christian Church. She was known as an excellent cook and a superb seamstress who made beautiful custom outfits for her daughters and granddaughters. She was also known for her generosity and gift of organization. She had a great sense of humor and quick wit.
Betty’s career history included work as a secretary at Union Planters Bank, cashier for Collierville Elementary and Middle Schools, teller at The People’s Bank, and Co-owner with her husband Jimmy of Webb’s Farm and Garden Center and several coin operated car washes.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, November 26 at Collierville Christian Church with a celebration of life at 10:00 am, followed by a family graveside service at Magnolia Cemetery.
