OBITUARY
Carl William Bengtson
June 11, 1937 – December 25, 2020
Carl William Bengtson, 83, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, 2020 at his home in Kirby Pines Manor in Memphis TN. Carl was born June 11, 1937 in Boston MA to Richard and Ruth Bengtson. He had an older brother Rick who preceded him in death. He is survived by his younger brother, Paul. Carl graduated from Tufts University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and worked almost his entire life at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady NY as a Procurement Engineer for the Navy nuclear power program. He helped start Clifton Park Community Church in NY in his early adult life where he was an Elder and a teacher. He loved to sing in choirs at every church he was a part of. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his 12 grandkids. He also enjoyed time with many friends. His hobbies over the years included hockey, baseball/softball, snow skiing, fishing, and traveling, especially to the ocean. Carl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edith M. Bengtson, and by his sons, Scott and Todd Bengtson and their families. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5296 Park Ave. Memphis TN 38119. Visitation is at 10am and service at 11am. There will be no internment service grave side. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the Big Dog Street Ministry via Service Over Self of Memphis, the Orphan Grain Train, Memphis Coalition for Life, or a church/ministry of your choice.
