

Carl Andrew Winton, 47, of Collierville, TN, 21 year employee of AutoZone, passed away July 3, 2010 at Baptist Hospital Collierville. He was the President of Shelby Farms BMX and the Director of Competition for the TN State BMX Association, was a huge fan of NASCAR, especially #24 Jeff Gorden and loved the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved attending his son’s sporting events including basketball, lacrosse, Motorcycle MX and Bicycle MX, and was always the corner marshal in turn 2 at Shelby Farms BMX. He had been a paraplegic since 1992 and was an inspiration to all with his positive attitude, love for his family, work, friends and practical jokes. Carl was also a member of Hope Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Mary Winton and Mae Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Daphne Pierson Winton; son, Colin Andrew Winton; father, Frank B. Winton (Catherine); sisters, Pattie L. Winton, Mary Susan Winton Maxfield (Jeff); niece, Mariah Maxfield; nephews, Cory Winton, Michael Maxfield (Mintara), Ryan Pierson, Reid Pierson; in-laws, David Benfield (Joyce), Michael Pierson (Kristi), Terry Pierson and Ed Hyne. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2010 and the funeral service will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010, both at Collierville Funeral Home.
