Dean is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Pauline Martin and his father, Arthur Edward Martin. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sherrie Carlette Martin and his sister, Patricia Martin Hixson. He also is survived by two children: Sara Carlette Baker and his son, Dean Bryan Martin Jr. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren: Grace Proctor, Joseph Martin, Dylan Baker and Gunner Baker.
He graduated from Belmont University and received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University. For 47 years, he practiced veterinary medicine and was awarded TVMA’s Veterinary of the Year while practicing in Memphis.
At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and served as a deacon in his church. He also went on mission trips to spread the Gospel in Central America. Dean was an active member of Gideon’s International and brought God’s Word to local schools and other public places.
Dean enjoyed gardening, painting, watching Auburn football and taking care of his Schnauzers.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his loved ones rejoice in knowing Dean is face-to-face with Jesus.
The family will receive friends on Saturday September 7, 2024 beginning at 11a.m. at Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Bailey Station Road, Collierville. Funeral Services will begin at 1 p.m. with interment to follow at Memorial Park Southwoods.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made to Gideon’s International for Bibles.
