Don Ellis, 85, of Collierville, TN, passed this life Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Don was born on July 29, 1936, in Portageville, MO to the late Woodrow and Dixie Ellis. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Michael Ellis and survived by his siblings, Mrs. Betty Crafton, Mr. Mark Ellis and Mrs. Deborah Trupiano.
He graduated from Wardell High School then joined the United States Air Force. After the service, he moved to St. Louis, MO, where he began his career in the shoe industry and met his beloved ‘Missy’, Mavis Maxine Underwood. Together they raised seven daughters who were their pride and joy and affectionally referred to as ‘the girls’: Chiquita Paulson, Victoria Bartels, Stacy Clabough, Kelly Inman, Tamberly Seagle, Amee Cooper and Tiffany Watkins. They were blessed with 23 Grandchildren, 20 Great Children and one on the way.
Don was an active member of Germantown Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon and President of Merry Makers. Upon his retirement from the Stride Rite Corp., he became an avid golfer who marshalled at Memphis National Golf Club.
The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm for Visitation followed by the Service at 2pm, Monday, February 14, 2022, at Collierville Funeral Home 534 West Poplar, Collierville, TN 38017. Memorials can be made to Germantown Baptist Church.
