Donald Lee Cameron

Don was a graduate of Messick High School, class of 1971. He retired after more than 30 years at ADM as a lab analyst. In an environment of measurement and classification, Don built a career defined by consistency and expertise.

Long before the years carried everyone in different directions, Don was a beloved son and older brother. In his early years, Don carried responsibility for his younger brother in a way that suggested both affection and duty.

As a long-term resident of Midtown Memphis, Don was kind, witty and unexpectedly jovial. He had a way of turning strangers into friends and leaving behind a feeling of total connection after even a brief conversation.

Don maintained a deep appreciation for the Arts. Jazz and blues music held a special place in his heart. He remained devoted to the simple rituals of everyday life: reading the newspaper while enjoying a good cup of coffee and finding comfort in the familiar routine of a morning walk in Midtown.

Those that knew Don will remember his distinctive smile; one that emanated through his eyes. Although life‘s path took Don in varied directions, Don continued to be a beloved son, father, brother, and uncle.

Don was proceeded in death by his son, Dustin Beau, and his parents, Earl Cameron and Jean Cameron.

He has survived by his son, Evan Lee Cameron (Halima Anderson), his granddaughter Sienna, his brother, Jon Cameron (Holly), nieces Christy Cameron Mills (Matt), Caroline Cameron Puetz (Nic) and his great nieces and nephews who will all remember him fondly as a special part of the fabric of their family.

Memorial Service and Celebration of Life

A memorial service and celebration of Don’s life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Collierville Funeral Home in Collierville, TN, with a gathering starting at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Don’s memory to the Memphis Music Foundation or a local Memphis arts organization supporting jazz and blues education.

Family and friends are encouraged to share stories and photographs, not as a complete account of his life, but as partial glimpses.
