Donald Ray McLaughlin

Don was a patient, kind, and gentle man whose warmth touched everyone he met. For many years, he faithfully served as a dedicated greeter at Central Church in Collierville, where his friendly smile and genuine spirit welcomed countless members and visitors.

Born to Joseph Ray McLaughlin and Hazel Barner McLaughlin, Don grew up with strong values of faith, family, and service. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Southern Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. A lifelong lover of sports, Don also took great pride in maintaining his beautiful yard—so much so that he earned Yard of the Month honors two years in a row.

Above all, Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose love for his family was unwavering.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ray and Hazel McLaughlin, and his grandson, Pete Sciara.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Peggy McLaughlin; his daughter, DeEdra Pulley (Robert); and his sons, Anthony McLaughlin (Bridgette) and Eric McLaughlin (Shelly). He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Katie McDonald (Mike), Adam Pulley (Lauren), Conner McLaughlin (Melissa), Caden McLaughlin (Bailey), Seth McLaughlin, Ethan McLaughlin, Mary Sciara, Sam Sciara, and Michael Sciara; and great-grandchildren Lucy McDonald, Lainey McDonald, Charlotte Pulley and Cal McLaughlin. Don is also survived by his sister, Shirley Smith, two brothers, Joe McLaughlin (Anita) and Doug McLaughlin (Vickie), along with a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss him.

Don’s life was a testament to faith, kindness, and the quiet strength of a man who found joy in serving others. His family and friends will forever carry his example of love and humility in their hearts.

The family will receive friends on Friday October 31, 2025 at Central Church, 2005 E Winchester Blvd., Collierville beginning at 11:00 am; with Memorial Service beginning at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers gifts in memory of Mr. McLaughlin may be offered to the American Lung Association.
