
Dorothy Lavelle Balloue Rutledge was born on August 15, 1927 to Will and Rubye Simmons Balloue. She began her 45 year U.S. Postal Service career as a clerk at the Collierville Post Office and served her last 17 years as Postmaster in Rossville, Tennessee.
She was a member of the Collierville Church of Christ for many years and attended services held by Rev. Don Johnson at Kirby Pines where she resided for the past five years.
Predeceasing her were her parents, Will and Rubye Balloue, her husband, former Collierville Postmaster Henry Rutledge, brothers Guy and Davis Balloue, and sisters, Doris Balloue and Vashti Parker. She is survived by her sister, Billie Sue Hamner of Kirby Pines Retirement Home, nephews Barry Parker (Olive) of Sebring, Florida, Mike Hamner (Kathy) of Fisherville, Tn., Alan Ray Keough (Glenda) and niece, Kaye Hamner Guy of Collierville.
Services will be held Thursday, 3:00 p.m. on March 31, 2016, at the Collierville Funeral Home with visitation preceding the service from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. The family requests that rather than flowers, memorials be sent to the Collierville Church of Christ or the charity of your choice .
