

Edward Wesley Genes, Jr., 79, of Collierville, passed away November 15, 2012, at Baptist Trinity Hospice House. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m., Monday, November 19, and funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., at Redeemer Evangelical Church, 3100 South Houston Levee Rd., Germantown, TN 38139. Born on June 26, 1933 to the late Edward Wesley and Ola Mae McCaskill Genes, Edward served in the U.S. Army and received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Memphis. Mr. Genes worked for 33 years with the Memphis Defense Depot as a Management Analyst and later as a customer service representative with Terminix for 12 years. He was a faithful member of Central Church for more than 30 years, where he served as a greeter, and he also authored a book entitled “The Odyssey of Wesley Morganthau”. Edward loved meeting people and was a member of the Gideons and Windyke Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marjorie Casey. Mr. Genes is survived by his wife, Sharon Hope Genes; 2 sons, William E. Genes and Matthew E. Genes (Melissa), both of Memphis; his step-daughter, Tracy Fair of Nashville, TN; and 9 grandchildren.
