She had a way of making you feel like you mattered—really mattered. When she was with you, she wasn’t halfway paying attention or distracted. She was present. She listened with her whole face, laughed with her whole body, and loved with a kind of warmth that wrapped around you. Being in her presence made life feel lighter, safer, easier. She could lift your spirit just by walking into the room.
She made people feel comfortable. Seen. Important. Whether she knew you for years or met you in the grocery store line, she made you feel like you belonged. That’s a rare gift, and it came naturally to her.
Her heart showed up in big, unforgettable ways—like turning a single family visit into a week of every holiday imaginable, complete with candy‑giving neighbors, Easter egg hunts, and Christmas lights that appeared overnight. It showed up in unexpected ways too—like the Christmas she outran all the kids in laser tag and celebrated her victory with a laugh that echoed across the cove.
But her heart showed up most in the quiet moments.
When you were sick and she sat with you long after she needed to rest.
When she cooked your favorite meal because she knew it would make your day better.
When she hugged you just a little longer because she could tell you needed it.
The truth is, people may forget the details of every story—but they will never forget how she made them feel. Loved. Welcomed. Valued. Safe. Special.
That was Glinda.
And that’s the piece of her we will carry forward in ourselves.
