Howard Preston Kincheloe Jr., 79, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 3, 2026, in Germantown, Tennessee. He was born on February 8, 1947, in Albany, Georgia. Howard grew up in a large family and is survived by four of his five siblings: William, Shirley, Ralph, and Rita.
Howard lived a life marked by unwavering faith, devoted service, and a deep love for his family. A faithful follower of Christ, he dedicated much of his life to serving others and sharing the Gospel. As an active member of Germantown Baptist Church, he faithfully taught Sunday School, volunteered regularly preparing coffee for fellow worshipers, and warmly welcomed church members and visitors as a greeter each week. His kindness, servant’s heart, and genuine love for people reflected the light of Christ in all he did.
Howard was also a dedicated member and current chapter president of The Gideons International, where he found great joy in distributing Bibles and sharing the Good News of the Gospel. He believed deeply in God’s Word and was passionate about helping others come to know the hope and salvation found in Christ.
Professionally, Howard enjoyed a successful 32-year career with JI Case, serving as a Regional Product Manager. His love for farming and tractors extended beyond his work and remained one of his lifelong passions. He appreciated the value of hard work, stewardship, and the agricultural heritage he held dear.
In his spare time, Howard was an accomplished woodworker who found great satisfaction in creating and restoring beautiful pieces for family and friends. Whether repairing a chair, refinishing a table, or building custom furniture, he approached every project with craftsmanship and care. Many of those treasured pieces will continue to serve as lasting reminders of his love and generosity.
Howard was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Kincheloe; his father, Howard Kincheloe, Sr.; and his sister, Helena McCathern.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy of faith, service, and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sue Kincheloe; his daughter, Julie (Erik) Lewis; his son, Brian (Marisa) Kincheloe; his grandchildren, Shelby (Chris) Chaille, Josh and Brooke Lewis, Gage and Riley Kincheloe; and his great-grandchildren, Tanner and Charlee Chaille.
While his family grieves his absence, they rejoice in the assurance of God’s promise and take comfort in knowing that Howard has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and now rests in the eternal peace and joy of his heavenly home.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Howard’s life was a testimony to God’s faithfulness, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Germantown Baptist Church, Gideons International, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 11th at Collierville Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1 pm with the service following at 2 pm. The burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery immediately after.
