Hugh Don Hackney went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Hugh was born May 10, 1937 in Quanah, Texas to parents J.D. and Mary Hackney. He graduated from Quanah High School. Hugh married Sharon Lane on December 4, 1959. Hugh served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. Afterward, he worked as an insurance salesman for many years. Hugh served as a deacon at Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. Hugh loved to spend his free time fishing on the lake near his home in Gun Barrel City, Texas, and he enjoyed singing in the church choir. Hugh loved Texas and spent most of his life there before moving to Germantown, Tennessee to be closer to his daughter Sherri Crawford.
Hugh’s parents J.D. and Mary and brother Carroll Hackney predeceased him. He leaves behind his wife Sharon, his daughter Sherri and her husband John, granddaughter Courtney Brandon and her husband Drew, grandson Jason Crawford, and great-granddaughter Gabrielle Brandon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Collierville Funeral Home, 534 West Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017.
Burial services will be for immediate family only.
