

Jack Melvin Curtis, 84 of Collierville, passed from this life Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the West Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN. He was born August 21, 1930, in Waynoka, OK to the late Lloyd Melvin and Esther Eunice Barnett Curtis. He was a graduate of Oklahoma Military Academy and Oklahoma University in 1952 and received his Masters from the University of North Dakota. Mr. Curtis retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Lt. Col. with 23 years of service and was a retired teacher with the Ft. Worth Texas School District. He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Eads, TN. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dean Curtis. He is survived by his wife, whom he married January 13, 1951, Doris J. Curtis, daughter; Connie S. Wright (Dave) of Collierville, son; J. Kragh Curtis (Jackie) of Denver, CO, sister; Eunice Esther Quinn of Ft. Myers, FL, granddaughter; Ashley Becker (Josiah) and grandson, Curtis Wright. The family will receive guests with a reception for sharing stories and memories on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 12pm to 1pm in the Reception Hall of Collierville Funeral Home. Committal Services with full Military Honors will follow at 1:45pm in the Rotunda of the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill – Irene Rd. in Memphis. Memorials can be made to:
