On Wednesday, July 14th, Jack Calvin Johnson passed from this earth and joined his Heavenly father. Mr. Johnson is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Deanna Durbin Johnson. Jack and Deanna have two children: Bryan Jack Johnson and Scarlett Johnson Wirth (Thomas A. Wirth Jr.). They also have three grandchildren: Morgan Johnson Massey (Brooks), Landry Lynn Wirth, and Thomas Anthony Wirth III. He leaves behind his brother, Dudley Johnson (Glenda), and his sister, Ramelle Sewell (Ray, deceased); he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Johnson (Carolyn) and Darrell Johnson (Betty).
Mr. Johnson was born on January 29th, 1943 in Booneville, Mississippi to Mr. Sydney Johnson and Mrs. Daisy Johnson. He was the youngest of five children.
Jack Johnson lived an incredibly full and exciting life filled with numerous achievements. In 1969, Mr. Johnson was named Man of the Year at the company which he worked for, Pfizer pharmaceuticals; this award perfectly demonstrates his hardworking and determined spirit that helped him to become so successful throughout his life. In 1973, he started Germantown Home Builders, which is still a thriving business today. Beginning in 1981, Jack started building, owning, and operating several storage facilities. He also enjoyed developing many subdivisions in the Germantown and Collierville areas, including Beaver Creek, Steeplegate, and Falling Creek. He was on the board of Victory Bank, and later went on to start and become Chairman of the board for Renasant Bank in Germantown, Tennessee. Jack Johnson was a true entrepreneur who mentored countless others. His memory and legacy will continue to inspire people for many years to come.
In addition to his many accomplishments, Mr. Johnson’s life was filled with affection and loyalty for his loved ones. Jack Johnson’s love for his family came second only to his love and devotion to God. He was an active member of Germantown Baptist Church for over 40 years and made many contributions to the church community. Anyone who interacted with Jack was clearly able to see God shining through him, and he touched the lives of so many people because of that.
The celebration of Mr. Jack Johnson’s life will be held at 2 o’clock PM with the visitation from 12 o'clock until 2 o'clock pm at Germantown Baptist Church on Monday, July 19th, 2021.
