

James Allen Burriss, 50, of Moscow, TN, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville. The family will receive friends beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday August 4th, and a Celebration of Jim’s life will follow at 6:00 p.m., all at Moscow United Methodist Church. Born August 14, 1960 in Detroit, MI, Jim and his family lived in Indianapolis, IN and Cleveland, OH before settling in Germantown, TN. He was a 1979 graduate of Germantown High School, and he attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, obtaining his degree in Air Frame and Power Plant Engineering. He was currently employed by Floats and Fuel Cells of Memphis, TN, where he designed fuel cells for various aircraft. Jimbo was an avid NASCAR and Indy car enthusiast, missing only one Indianapolis 500 in the last 34 years, and he also enjoyed his weekly Frisbee golf game with his friends and spending time on the family farm in Moscow. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Glover Burriss; and his parents, Don and Jane Burriss. Jim is survived by his daughter, Courtney Weber (Bo Hogue); two brothers, Bill Burriss (Kelly) and Bob Burriss (Karen); four grandchildren, Jay, Ashley, Zoie, and Avery, plus one more on the way; and six nieces and nephews, Andrew, Katie, Alexander, Caroline, Calvin, and Elizabeth.
