Jo Ann "Mama Joey" Johnson, 69, peacefully entered her heavenly home on March 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. Mama Joey, a beloved figure in her family and community, embodied unwavering faith and resilience, touching all with her kindness and contagious smile. Retiring from Harrah’s CORPORATE HQ in Memphis, Mama Joey's leadership was marked by hard work, integrity, and compassion. She loved painting and creating, casinos, the beach, family, friends, her husband and most of all Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Catherine Dolan and Enlow Hoskins and Orbie Dolan; One daughter, Lisa Bryant; Sisters, Marie Hoskins and Janice Devore; Brothers, Billy Hoskins, Tommy Hoskins and Oscar Hoskins.
She is survived by Husband, Jack Johnson; Daughters; Denise Whitten Carter, Beth Rutherford; Sons, Jessie “Glyn” Whitten Jr., Brian Johnson and Brad Johnson; Sisters, Judy Parker, Lori Brannon, Sheila Scott, Betty Hoskins, Alma Hoskins, Karen Rogers, Ann Goodwin, and Nancy Hoskins; Brothers, Daniel Hoskins and Johnny Hoskins; God-Daughters, Brittney Martinez and Kelly Justice; 16 Grandkids and 9 Great-Grandkids.
Mama Joey's greatest gift was uplifting others through prayer, advice, and unwavering spirit. A memorial service will be held at Collierville Funeral Home on Saturday, April 6th, at 10 am, followed by interment at Magnolia Cemetery at 11:30 am.
