

He was a devoted husband, father, and “Papa”. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jhoni Williamson Copeland of Collierville, TN; one daughter, Tiffany Grist Sharp (Matt) of Collierville, two sons, Colby Copeland (Alyssa) of Collierville; Davey “Rob” Mann, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; and two very special grandchildren, Presley and Levi Sharp. He also leaves behind one sister, Jill Copeland of Collierville and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Copeland of Williston, TN. Jock was preceded in death by his parents Joe Copeland and Florence Killingsworth Copeland, and three brothers, Jeff Copeland, Freddie Copeland, and Tommy Copeland.
Jock was a Briarcrest Christian School alumni, and briefly attended UT Martin and University of Memphis. At the age of 53, he earned an Associates Degree in Applied Science-Web Technology from Southwest Community College.
Jock had a lengthy airline career beginning with Southern Airways, then Republic, Northwest, and eventually Delta Airlines where he retired with 42 years of service. The last five years he worked in accounts payable with Redeemer’s Group.
For the last 18 years, Jock has served as an active member of Germantown Baptist Church where he was currently serving as a deacon, and was part of the orchestra. He was a multi-talented musician who played piano, guitar, and mandolin. Jock was in many local bands, but some of his greatest joys were playing special events and worship services at GBC. As a former member of Bellevue Baptist Church, he coached girls’ soccer, basketball, and softball. Jock played, coached and refereed soccer for many years.
Jock cherished his family and proudly attended his grandchildren’s performances and ballgames, cheering them on. Weekly family game nights playing Ticket To Ride were the highlight of his week and he was a proud Memphis Tiger Fan.
The funeral service will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, at noon at Germantown Baptist Church with visitation at 10:30 a.m. to noon.
