John Peyton Humphreys

John grew up in Collierville TN attending Collierville schools and graduating from Collierville High School. He was a star athlete attaining All Shelby County award in football. He received a football scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a BS degree. He married the love of his life-Donna in 1979. He began his coaching career at Briarcrest High School and finished his career at Collierville high School as a football coach where he taught science and woodworking. He was active at Central Church serving as an usher and was a faithful member of Jacob's Ladder which serves inner city revitalization. John loved his chocolate labs-Toby, Aby and Cupcake who he skillfully trained. In his retirement he helped to care for his wife's parents- Eva and step-father Bob as well as his own parents Robert and Jimmie Humphreys. John also loved playing golf with friends and family.

Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. Friday, March 18, followed by service at 2 p.m. at Central Church, 2005 East Winchester Blvd., Collierville, TN 38017.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Robinson Humphreys; parents, Robert H and Jimmie M Humphreys; brother, Robert A Humphreys MD. (Suzanne); nephews, Robert C Humphreys JD and Alan F Humphreys DVM (Mary Elizabeth); niece Alison S Humphreys; and great-niece, Kennon L Humphreys
