Linda Paulette Barber, 65, passed away on Sunday May 13, 2012. Beloved Wife, Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, devoted Christian, Nurse, and loyal Cub fan. Born October 16, 1946 in Hoopeston, Illinois, she attended Hoopeston Public Schools and graduated from Burnham Nursing School in Champaign, Illinois. She was raised in Illinois and later moved to Iowa, Missouri, and Tennessee. She is survived by husband, Louis C. Barber of Collierville, TN; daughter, Candice M. Barber of Collierville, TN; son, Robert C. Barber of Collierville, TN; grandchildren, Louis Christopher Metts and Tyler Marris Metts; mother, Marie Brown of Hoopeston, IL; 2 brothers Gary Brown of Hoopeston, IL and Mike Brown of Kansas City, KS; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by father Robert G. Brown. Linda was involved with her church, Special Olympics, tennis, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts while still raising children and being a nurse at St. Johns Regional Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Linda later moved to Lake Ozark, Missouri and enjoyed her church, was head nurse for an OBGYN practice, playing tennis, took cooking lessons, boating, and traveling while in Missouri. Linda moved to Memphis, TN in 1995, where she enjoyed church, charity work, and traveling. Linda travelled extensively in the United States including New York, Key West, Savannah, San Diego, The Grand Canyon, St. Louis, Maui, and many more cities not listed. She was also blessed in her many travels outside the United States including Paris, Rome, Scotland, Ireland, Bahamas, Bermuda, St. Thomas, Mexico, and Missionary work in Haiti. She truly enjoyed trips to warm weather places and special annual trips with her Mother. Linda was greatly helped during her last months by great doctors and friends. Notably: Linda Strong, Ann Turner, Mary Jean Roach, and many others from Collierville Christian Church, especially Minister Pat Hardaway. We would like to thank Dr. Stephen Besh of West Clinic & their staff, as well as her primary care physician Dr. Michelle Allmon and Staff. Thanks to all who helped Linda recently you made it easier.
