
Margaret Treadwell Simpson, 97, long time Collierville resident died September 8, 2012. Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Lloyd Simpson; her parents, Timmons Louis Treadwell and Maud Briggs Treadwell; and brothers, T. L. Treadwell, Jr. and William Lounds Treadwell. Born October 8, 1914, in Marshall County, MS, Mrs. Simpson moved to Collierville in 1921 with her family. She was a long time member of Collierville First Baptist Church, Olive Branch Baptist Church and a charter member of St. Patrick Presbyterian Church. Over her life time she served as a devoted
Sunday school teacher for more than 60 years. During WWII she served as a member of the Executive Staff of the Duke University unit of the American Red Cross attached to the 65th General Hospital Unit at Ft. Bragg, N.C. She was part of the overseas service to the armed forces serving in the European Theatre of Operation. Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Republican Women of Purpose, the D.A.R., Descendents of Early Settlers of Shelby County and Surrounding Counties, and the Garden Club. She leaves her sister, Montyne Treadwell Sammons, her nephews, Tim L. Treadwell, III, and Cecil Luck Sammons, Jr. all of Collierville; her nephew, James Richard Treadwell of Dunlap, TN; and a niece, Montyne Sammons Brewer of Brentwood, TN; six great nieces and nephews and eleven great-great nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, at Collierville Funeral Home with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
