Marilyn Woodward Yeager, 78, of Collierville, TN, passed on from this life on August 17, 2026. Born on February 16, 1948, in Santa Ana, CA, Marilyn lived a life full of love for her family, friends, and cats. She enjoyed learning, wading in the creek, travel, water aerobics, and mysteries. She was kind towards everyone. Marilyn was a devoted and beloved educator. She dedicated more than 40 years of her life to teaching elementary school and made a lasting impression on generations of students. She taught at La Rose Elementary and Locke Elementary in Memphis, TN, and Shadow Oaks Elementary in DeSoto County, MS. Her love of history was evident both in and outside of the classroom.
Marilyn found the love of her life in her husband, Gene. Her immaculate penmanship was the first thing Gene complimented her on when they met. At the heart of Marilyn's life was family. She cherished the times we spent together-- the laughs, the holidays, the trips, and the good talks we had. She never missed a birthday dinner, nor an occasion to send beautiful cards to make us smile, share in our sorrow, or just because. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Fowler; brother-in-law, Frank Fowler; nieces, Jennifer Fowler and Katherine Nelson; great-niece, Emma Kate; great-nephews, Cole and James; stepson Michael Scott Yeager; stepdaughter Nancy Yeager Berryhill; and step grandchildren, Josh Yeager, Jeremy Yeager, Ken Putt, Shannon Smoot, and Michael Yarbrough. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Yeager and stepdaughter Renee Putt. Visitation will be held on September 5, 2026, at Collierville Funeral Home at 1:00pm followed by a service at 2pm.
