Collierville-Mary Elise “Lisa” Ackermann passed away on February 18, 2013. Lisa was born in Louisville, KY, to Dr. Harry E. Moore and the late Shirley Sherfey Moore. She is survived by her adoring husband of 33 years, Lynn Ackermann; children, Britni Ackermann Corrigan and Kristofer “Kit” Ackermann; son-in-law, Captain Sean Corrigan; grandson, Riley Corrigan; sister, Cynthia Moore and extended family. She also leaves behind a 33 year legacy in the Collierville Elementary School Art Department and in the hearts of thousands of students, colleagues, and parents. Lisa was a true blue tiger fan who graduated with honors from, what to her would always be, Memphis State University. She had a love of art and animals that she shared with everyone she met. She was twice awarded Collierville Rotary Club Teacher of the Year and selected as a Lifetime National PTA member. In addition to her accolades, she was a member of the National Art Education Association and Shelby County Education Association. Those that met her called her friend; those that knew her, loved her. She will forever be in the hearts of many. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Lisa Ackermann Memorial Art Fund at Collierville Elementary School at 590 Peterson Lake Road, Collierville, TN 38017. A visitation for friends and family will be held at Collierville Elementary School on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. with a remembrance of her life immediately following the visitation.

I had Mrs. Ackermann in my elementary school days & my children were also priviledged to have her as well. What an amazing person she is. I remember seeing her in the mornings at drop off, always smiling and so welcoming...I always told her she looked the same as when I had her as she did then, amazing! Your family is and will be in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry.

My deepest sympathy and condolences are with your family. I have been blessed to not only know Mrs. Ackermann when I was an educational assistant, but also when she was my art teacher and my daughter's art teacher as well.(She is now in the sixth grade.) I no longer had to boast of her great art, amazing skills, and kind heart because my daughter was able to experience it for herself and know by her stories of how great she had been. To me, Mrs. Ackermann was an unsung hero, and altruist, and an amazing woman with a warming and welcoming smile that I will never forget.

Words cannot explain the legacy she leaves behind. Please know that she will always be remembered in our hearts. I pray that God will continue to give you strength, peace, comfort, and loving memories during your most difficult times. God bless you and your family.
