Matthew Virden Swain Sr.

Matt was born on February 21, 1947, in Greenville, Mississippi, to William and Lynn Swain. After earning his degree in mechanical engineering from Christian Brothers College, he spent 29 years self-employed at MVS Consulting Engineers, Inc., followed by 10 years at Liles Engineering, where he was known for his dedication and mentorship.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Holloway Swain; his children, Matthew V. Swain, Jr. (Lori) and Virginia Vazzano (Daniel); and five grandsons, Connor Castonguay, Jackson Castonguay, Matthew Castonguay, Gavin Swain, and Ryan Swain. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William D. Swain, Jr.

Matt had a deep love for his faith, family, and friends. Some of his favorite pastimes were spent growing trees and outdoor grilling. Friends remember his loyalty, steady kindness, and the way he made everyone feel like family.

A funeral service and mass will be held at The Church of the Incarnation in Collierville, Tennessee, on Monday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friends and family are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Social Ministry of the Church of the Incarnation or the American Heart Association (AHA).
