

At age 13, Maureen moved with her parents and younger sister to Corydon, Iowa. Here she developed a strong character working on the family farm and playing competitive basketball at Corydon High school. She also became quite enamored with a young man on the neighboring farm, Tedford Reeves Niday.
On March 5, 1956, just a few months after his discharge from the Army, Ted and Maureen were married in Seymour, Iowa. Together, Ted and Maureen had three children Rick, Ted, and Diane. The family settled in Omaha, Nebraska in 1970 where Ted worked as a boat operator for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
While raising their family, Maureen also worked for Montgomery Ward and Omaha Public Schools before beginning her career at the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as a data entry clerk. She learned quickly and worked hard to become a budget analyst on government superfund clean-up sites.
Maureen and Ted moved to Blair, Nebraska in 1977 to enjoy small town living. She commuted to her work in Omaha until she retired in 1996 to care for Ted, who had been diagnosed with cancer.
Following Ted’s passing, Maureen loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed decorating, gardening, and visiting with neighbors,
In 2022, Maureen moved to Collierville, Tennessee where she spent time with her son, Rick and his wife, and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the area. Even after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she continued to express her independence and creativity through flower arranging, painting, crafts, and singing.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Helen Golden; her husband, Tedford R. Niday; and her sister, Colleen Golden.
Maureen is survived by her children, Rick (Laurel) Niday of Collierville, TN; Tedford G. (Kerri) Niday of Driftwood, TX, and Diane K. Niday of Omaha, NE.; Her grandchildren, Lauren Niday, Shelby (Niday) Kenney, Tedford A. Niday, Katie Niday, Travis Seffron, and Jessalyn (Seffron) Moten; and nine great grandchildren.
