Neva Sue Poynter, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Collierville, Tennessee. She was a member of Peterson Lake Baptist Church in Collierville. She was retired from Krystal as a store manager with over 20 years of service. Mrs. Poynter enjoyed cooking and loved her family, especially her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Smithson and Mae Vanhoose Smithson; her husband of 64 years, Cecil Poynter; three great-grandchildren and her sister, Lou McMinn.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda Davis, Phyllis Owens (John), and Sharon Lovejoy (Bill); son, Denton Poynter; grandchildren, Michael Davis, Lori Karrer, Amber Merritt, and Kyndal Chamberlain; eight great-grandchildren and her brother, Dean Smithson.
The family will receive friends on Friday January 6, 2023 at 12 noon with funeral services to be held at 1 p.m.; all at Collierville Funeral Home, 534 W Poplar Avenue. Interment will follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers gifts in memory of Mrs. Poynter may be offered to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
