

Orman William “Bill” Whitehead died on October 3, 2013. Mr. Whitehead was born on a farm in Glen Allen, AL in 1922. He called Memphis home as this is where he spent 30 plus years. He also lived in Fresno, CA and Atlanta, GA as his career took him to various cities in the U.S. Bill Whitehead was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ann Whitehead and is survived by his two children, Doug Whitehead and Terri Prince and five grandchildren, Hailey, Kirk, Meagan, Brent and Taft. He attended Auburn University obtaining an undergraduate degree in Agriculture and later became a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in Germany. Mr. Whitehead spent more that 35 years working for Shell Chemical Company and after retiring, worked another 15 years for Microflow in Memphis, TN. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Wyndyke Country Club and the local chapter of Kiwanis Club. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 5 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Collierville Funeral Home on 534 West Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017. There will be a memorial service following at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Kirby Pines Retirement Community, 3535 Kirby Road, Memphis, TN 38115 (901)866-4410.
