

Dr. Roger E. Nolte passed from his earthly home to a far better place on October 22, 2015 at the age of 93. He had served in the Navy during World War II and graduated with Electrical Engineering degrees from Iowa State University. He served as head of the department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri at Rolla, Dean of Engineering at Miami University and retired as Dean of Engineering at University of Memphis. He was married to the love of his life, Janet (Hansen) for 49 years. She preceded him in death in 1993. Together they had 5 children, Susan, Marilyn, Karen, Paul and David. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He had 2 brothers, Gordon (deceased) and Larry in Missouri. He also had an older sister, Maxine, (from Arizona) and a younger sister, Nancy (from Ohio). Roger loved to teach, garden, fish, hunt, and play golf. He also created many items from native woods in his garage work shop. He was a devoted husband, father, friend and Methodist and will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 1:15 pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to your favorite charity.
