Ronald Joe McDaniel, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He and his twin brother, Donald Arthur McDaniel, were born on August 22, 1945 in Lake Worth, Texas to Delbert Dale McDaniel of Gillham, Arkansas and Ora Faye McDaniel (Hounsel) of Cove, Arkansas. Ron spent much of his adult life living in many areas of Texas before moving to Collierville, Tennessee in 1994.
After graduating Lake Worth High School in 1963, Ron began working for the Santa Fe Railroad doing a variety of jobs before being promoted to Hub Manager in Memphis in 1993. During this time and due to his loyal and dedicated support of one of the Memphis hub’s customers, Ron was awarded a Comtrak trailer with his last name displayed on the front and back of the trailer as it carried cargo across the nations’ highways. In 1997, Ron was awarded the James J. Hill and Cyrus K. Holliday Founders Award for employees with outstanding contributions with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Intermodal Team. After retiring from the railroad in 2005, he came on to help with operations as co-owner of the family business with his wife, Faye McDaniel.
Ron had many loves in his life from golfing with buddies, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, being with his treasured puppies, serving on the Tommy Vinson Ministries board, being an active member at Collierville First Baptist Church, traveling to many exciting and different places with his beloved wife, Faye, spending time with his five grandchildren plus two bonus married ones and his three great grandchildren, singing about Jesus with his choir friends, studying and teaching the Bible, but his greatest love of all was sharing the Gospel with those he met along life’s way. Ron’s greatest desire was that all he met would come to saving faith in Jesus, as he did early in his life.
Ron is survived by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Faye Boyd McDaniel; his three children, Joe McDaniel (Teresa), Shawn Darnell (Ben), Scott McDaniel(Jacki); five grandchildren, Taylor Lewis (Matthew), Christopher McDaniel(Amber), Boyd Darnell, Noah McDaniel, Jordan McDaniel; his three great children, Remington McDaniel, Amelia and Charlie Lewis.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents Dale and Faye McDaniel; two brothers Jerry McDaniel and twin brother Don McDaniel.
Services will be on Friday, February 6, 2026 with visitation at 12 P.M. followed by the funeral at 1 P.M. at Collierville First Baptist Church, Collierville, Tennessee, officiated by Dr, Chuck Herring and Dr. Tommy Vinson and special music by Greg Crane. A family graveside service will follow at Memorial Gardens in Bartlett, Tennessee.
