Ron graduated from the Marquette University College of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI, in 1957. He served as a Major in the United States Army Dental Corps and served a year in Korea.
Ron was a self-taught 5-string banjo player and was a staff musician on the Louisiana Hayride. He later played in bluegrass bands including the Geezinslaw Brothers, and appeared with them on the Ed Sullivan Show and the Arthur Godfrey radio show.
Ron opened his first dental practice in Winston-Salem, NC, and during his career practiced in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. He practiced in Mesquite, TX, for approximately 20 years and retired there in 2006. Ron enjoyed gardening, fishing, and travel. In 2014 he married Glen Nichols Finch and moved to Rossville, TN, where he joined Germantown Baptist Church. Ron and Glen enjoyed cruises to Hawaii, Alaska, and the Panama Canal, and driving trips through the northeastern US.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Glen Finch Teofan; a daughter, Valerie Lundberg, of Oklahoma City, OK; two sisters, Angela Davis (Joe) of Austin, TX, and Yolanda Teofan Keeling of Austin, TX; a brother, Vernon Obrad Teofan (Maxine), of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Samuel Obrad Teofan and Sophie Woltman Teofan; his first wife, Carol Jean Elrod Teofan; his son, Terrance Christopher Teofan; and his sister, Sonya Teofan Duobrava.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Collierville Funeral home. Visitation will be Monday, May 23, at 11:00, followed by the funeral at 12:00, both to be held in the Parlor at Germantown Baptist Church at 9450 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN 38139. A committal service will be held at 2:00 at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis TN, 38125, with burial to follow.
