

Roy Junior Summitt, age 82, of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025. Born April 3, 1943, Roy was a proud graduate of Lynwood High School in California. He went on to complete the IBEW Apprenticeship Program and the U.S. Army Engineer School.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Roy honorably served his country in Vietnam, a time he carried with great pride throughout his life. Following his military service, he became a longtime and dedicated member of IBEW Local 474 and the National Street Rod Association.
Roy had a deep passion for classic cars, especially Pontiacs, and was a devoted collector for many years. Whether under the hood or behind the wheel, he found joy in sharing his love for vintage Pontiacs with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston Summitt and Louise Lashlee Summitt. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jo Ann Summitt; his son, Joshua H. Summitt (Molly); his cherished granddaughters, Maria Grace Summitt and Lila Ann Summitt; and his brother, Gary H. Summitt.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Bailey Station Road, Collierville, Tennessee beginning at 12:00 noon. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., with interment at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Roy may be offered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Mid-South Food Bank—two causes close to Roy’s heart.
Roy will be remembered for his dedication to family, country, and community, and for a life well lived.
