It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Sidney Elijah Kuehn, age 90, of Henderson, Nevada. He peacefully went home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tennessee, surrounded by the comforting presence of his family following a recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
Born on April 6, 1936, in Houston, Texas, Sidney maintained a lifelong loyalty to the Lone Star State. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, where he served as class president and was actively involved in athletics. He later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston with a concentration in advertising and marketing.
Sidney was raised with a deep appreciation for the cowboy way of life. Alongside his brothers, Billy Ray Kuehn and Otto Karl Kuehn Jr., he owned and operated the Triangle K Ranch in Montgomery, Texas. Together, the brothers built a cattle operation founded on love, hard work, and unwavering trust. Sidney took immense pride in stewarding the herd, improving the pastures, and working side by side with his wife and brothers for more than 40 years. He was a proud member of the Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the Salt Grass Trail Association, and was honored as both a Kentucky Colonel and a Tennessee Squire.
Most importantly, Sidney was a devoted Christian whose life reflected a profound love for his family, remarkable professional accomplishments, and a lifelong commitment to serving others. In his wife, Mary, he found the love of his life and his greatest partner. Together, they built a beautiful marriage filled with joy, respect, and steadfast devotion that served as the heartbeat of their home.
Professionally, Sidney was known for his creativity, strong work ethic, and visionary leadership. Over the course of a highly successful 47-year career in the oil and gas industry, he achieved significant milestones and earned the deep respect of colleagues and peers alike. As a marketing and advertising executive with Exxon Corporation, he was recognized as a leader in his field. His career was marked by integrity, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Following retirement, Sidney continued consulting for Exxon for an additional three years before beginning a second career as a real estate agent with Crye-Leike Realty, where he worked until his passing.
While Sidney achieved great success professionally, his true wealth was measured by what he gave back. He possessed a generous spirit and spent decades volunteering his time, resources, and leadership to countless charitable and community causes. Whether serving on boards and committees, organizing fundraisers, supporting local charities, or quietly helping a neighbor in need, Sidney championed causes that made the world a kinder and better place. His service left an indelible mark on the communities he loved.
For Sidney, being a father and grandfather was his greatest accomplishment. He dedicated his life to loving and supporting his children, Jeff and Cindy. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines, coaching youth sports, announcing football games, helping with homework, chaperoning school events, taking family camping trips, boating, fishing, or offering sage advice, Sidney was the father and grandfather every family hopes to have. He was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a master storyteller who leaves behind a treasure trove of lessons, wisdom, and cherished memories that will be carried forward for generations.
Sidney is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Kuehn, with whom he shared a love story that began in junior high school; his son, Jeffrey Scot Kuehn ( wife- Vicki Kuehn); his daughter, Cynthia K. Kluwe (husband- Clark E Kluwe) ; his grandchildren, Natalie Kuehn-Luck (Conor), Sarah Kuehn, Richard Kuehn, Chad Cover (Jamie), Katie Cover, Tyson Kluwe (Erin Little), and Lacey Kluwe (Robert Quick); and his great-grandchildren, Brodie Weisenbeck, Peyton Weisenbeck, Clark Kluwe Jr., Indi Quick, and River Quick.
