

Sidney Council Person, 91, passed away February 17, 2013 at Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville, TN surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was born September 10, 1921 in Piperton, TN to the late Albert L. Person, Sr. and Annie Mae Piper Person. Preceding him in death were his two brothers: Albert L Person, Jr. and Vincent Person, and sister: Lois Livingston. Mr. Person was blessed with an infectious personality, kind heart, strong sense of personal integrity, great sense of humor, and a warrior spirit. He never met a stranger, and he was good to everyone and treated everyone the same. He always put his family first. He was an avid golfer and loved to dance. He enjoyed watching football and boxing matches since he participated in both during his High School Years. Mr. Person was a member of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church. He graduated from Collierville High School and briefly attended UT Martin. He was a World War II Army Veteran. Mr. Person was a retired dairy farmer and was a member of AMPI Dairy Association, served on the Marshall County School Board, and was Awarded Citizen of the Year. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. He leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Katie Trottman Person. He also leaves three daughters: Nancy Pitts (Jim) of Collierville, Debra Godwin Benke (Vern) of Byhalia, MS, and Jan Scott (Stephen) of Itta Bena, MS. He also leaves five grandchildren: Leigh Murley of Collierville, John Malouf, Jr. of Madison, MS, Chase Bradford (Todd) of Biloxi, MS, Justin Malouf (Parrish) of Madison, MS and Nicholas Godwin (Amanda) of Byhalia, MS. He leaves five great-grandchildren: John Malouf III, Doty Malouf, Knox Bradford, Lily Marie Malouf, and Sydney Kate Murley. We would like to extend special thanks to his caregivers, especially Cora and Helen. Visitation will be held Wednesday February 20, 2013 from 12:30 until 2pm with funeral services to follow at 2pm all at Collierville Funeral Home.
