

Suzanne Marie Russell, 71 passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2016 in the arms of her loving husband. She was born in Washington, DC on July 10, 1944 and moved as a child to Marion, OH where she graduated from Marion Catholic High School then returned to Washington to work as a crypto-communications specialist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Later she held a variety of administration, financial and mortgage banking positions before retiring from First Tennessee Bank. Suzie enjoyed things of beauty, flowers, gardening, the mountains of Western North Carolina and the fall foliage of New England. She also enjoyed good books, music, family and friends. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Memphis.
She was preceded in death by two sons, David Eric Russell and Stephen Earl Russell; her parents, Alphonse LaValley and Lucy Moore LaValley; three sisters, Linda Somerndike, Lois Bowden and Helen Skinner and one brother, Greg LaValley.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, G.E. “Russ” Russell of Collierville; by daughter, Christine Ann Russell of Collierville; two sisters, Margie LaValley, Taos, NM and Mary Williamson, Waco, TX and several nieces and nephews. During a variety of illnesses’ Suzie’s spirit, determination and motto of “We Will Deal With It” was an inspiration to all that knew her.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 14, 2015 at Collierville Funeral Home from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m.; with a memorial service conducted at 6:30 p.m. Gifts in memory of Mrs. Russell may be offered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
