Tanya Edward Banks Ashe

Tanya Edward Banks Ashe was born on January 9, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio. She was the beloved second child of Osceola Quinn Banks and Robert Edward Banks who preceded her in death. Tanya died unexpectedly on October 24, 2025 in Collierville, Tennessee at the age of 68.

Tanya attended Notre Dame Academy for one year and then transferred to Whitney High School. She graduated from Whitney High School in 1975. Immediately after graduation she began her long career as a case worker with Lucas County Job and Family Services (LCJFS). She remained at LCJFS for more than thirty (30) years and took early retirement. Knowing all of the ends and outs of LCJFS, she went back several times after retirement to assist when workloads were heavy. She also worked part-time for the Lucas County Board of Elections for major elections.

When her home on North Cove was in the path for the expansion of Toledo Hospital, she decided to leave the cold and snow of Ohio and moved to Collierville, Tennessee to be closer to family. Anyone who knew Tanya knows her love of cats. That love began at a very early age when her Great Grandmother gave her the first kitten. After that she was hooked. There was Samantha, Tabitha, Munchie, Kahlua, Hennessey, a few strays and finally Bailey, who was by her side.

Tanya leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved son Sean Gregory Ashe of Horn Lake, Mississippi, her sister, Michelle (Ricky Brown) Banks of Collierville, Tennessee, the apple of her eye and only grandchild Amina Ashe of San Antonio, Texas and her long-time companion Ellis (Buford) Orr of Collierville, Tennessee. She is also survived by special family Serenthia and Rylei, the entire Quinn family of cousins, former residents of Rosewood Avenue, former LCJFS co-workers and her many friends.
