Thomas J. (Tom) Skubisz, 78, passed away October 12, 2026, after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Josie Skubisz and his younger brothers Daniel, Robert, and Anthony. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Susan, his sons Keith (Kelly), Kevin (Ana), and Kenneth (Lindsey) Skubisz, and his grandchildren Madison Skubisz, Nathan Skubisz, Charlotte Skubisz, and Adeline Skubisz.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. After his tour in Vietnam, he reported for duty to USNAS Whiting Field, Milton, FL, as a flight instructor where he would go on to receive the Instructor of the Year Award. He was hired by Federal Express (FedEx) in 1979 and flew for them for almost 30 years before he retired in 2008.
Once he retired, he was content to spend time with his family. He was generous almost to a fault. His family can recount numerous, quiet random acts of kindness to people who were less fortunate than him. He loved being out amongst nature and spotting all the wildlife therein.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on October 21, 2026, at the Catholic Church of the Incarnation, Collierville, TN. There will be a brief period of visitation before the Mass. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
